Privacy

Object

This data protection declaration informs users of the www.marinamap.com website about the collection, storage and use of personal data collected during their visit to the website in accordance with the definition in Article 4 of the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This privacy policy applies equally to the smartphone app “[marina|map]”.

By using this website, you agree to the processing of the data collected about you in accordance with the manner described below for the respective purpose.

Log Files

This website is constantly being optimised in terms of content and structure to the benefit of its users. In order to obtain the best possible information on the behaviour of users on the website, the following data is stored for each file accessed (for example a document, an image or a download):

- IP address of the user

- time of access

- web address (URL) of the retrieved file

- numerical code for success or failure of the file retrieval (e.g. 404 - File not found)

- size of the file in bytes

- user's origin URL (previously visited web document with link to the page/file accessed on this website)

- the user's browser and operating system

The log files are stored for one week in order to trace technical errors or abuse. They are then statistically evaluated and deleted. The statistical evaluations, such as the reach of the various pages, can no longer be used to draw any conclusions about the personal data of individual users.

Cookies

This website uses some cookies to enable certain functions of the website. Each time a file is retrieved, the data stored with the cookies is transmitted back to the server.

- The width of the screen is saved in order to ensure a trouble-free display with the shortest possible loading time for subsequent retrieval of HTML pages. The cookie is set with a lifetime of one day.

- It is stored whether the user has accepted the disclaimer that refers to the use of cookies. The cookie is set to a lifetime of three months.

- It is stored whether the user has consented to the loading of external content (Google Maps). The cookie is set to a lifetime of one year.

- The user's time zone is stored in order to be able to display time data in local time at the user's location - for example, for postings made by other users from different time zones. The cookie is set to a lifetime of six months.

- When a registered user logs in, an access code is stored that authenticates the user for further file retrievals. The code is deleted on logout to the web server. The cookie is set for a lifetime of one month.

- If users report ports, berths or anchorages using the "Report" form, the e-mail address that has to be entered for authentication is stored in the cookie to make subsequent reports more convenient. The cookie is set to a lifetime of twelve months.

Many web browsers allow the storage of cookies to be prevented. You may therefore use this website without storing cookies. However, restrictions in visualization and functionality are to be expected.

Contact Details

This website provides a form for users to contact the operator of the website. If you use this form, your entries in the form will be converted into an e-mail and sent to the website operator. The form data is not stored on the website. The e-mail will not be stored longer than is necessary to process it and respond to the user's request.

Registration

This website allows users to register. The purpose of this is to allow registered users to contribute to the content of the website - for example through discussion contributions or the reporting of ports, berths or anchorages.

During registration, a user name, a password and an e-mail address of the user are obligatory. After registration, users can voluntarily add some information to their profile: the web address of their personal website, their place of residence and country, they can upload a profile photo and also specify whether they own a sailboat or a motor yacht. The user name and all voluntary information are then visible to other users in contributions to the content of the website that the user has provided.

The user can delete his profile at any time using the function provided for this purpose on his profile page. The profile data is then deleted completely.

If the user deletes his profile, but not his discussion posts, his discussion posts are assigned to an anonymous profile ("Anomymous") and are no longer identified by name.

Registered users can send each other messages via the website. The e-mail addresses are not made accessible to the other user, but a standardized e-mail address of the web server always functions as the sender. Registered users can also deactivate the reception of any messages or notifications in their profile. The messages are only stored on the server until both sender and recipient have deleted them using the provided delete function.

Data on Geo-Location

This website enables the automated identification of ports, berths or anchorages in the user's vicinity. For this purpose, the user can release his location data in the browser or the app for use by this website. The location data of the user will be transmitted then to marinamap and Google Maps for the search. Location data will only be stored anonymously in order to be able to statistically evaluate the geographilcal distribution of the use of the website. It is not possible to draw conclusions about the locations of individual users.

Registration of service providers

Users can register URLs of service providers, which are then displayed on the pages of individual harbours. An e-mail address must be provided for registration. This is stored together with the URL of the service provider. It remains stored for as long as the URL. It may be used to contact the registrant regarding the management of the URL.

Use of Google Maps

To show the user of this website geographical information, this website uses geographical maps ("Google Maps") from Google (Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA). When displayed on this website, the map material is downloaded by the user's browser from Google. Personal information about the user, in particular his IP address and information about the browser and operating system of his computer, is transmitted to Google. Google also registers every retrieval of a page from this website on which map material is integrated.

Google assures to process the personal data only within pseudonymous user profiles. More detailed information on the use of personal data collected on the basis of Google Maps can be found in Google's privacy policy, see: https://policies.google.com/technologies?hl=en

If the user is logged in to a Google account during a page view from this website with integrated map material from Google Maps, Google can in principle assign the page view to the user's personal Google profile. If you want to prevent Google from linking your visit on this site to your Google Account, you can log out of Google and delete cookies set by Google before accessing this site.

Subscription to e-mail services

This website offers you the subscription of e-mail services ("newsletter") or sends e-mail notifications to users for the following purposes:

- notifications of new posts by other users

- e-mails for checking e-mail addresses in the context of contributions by non-registered users

- e-mails for authenticating e-mail addresses during the registration process of new users

- e-mails for authenticating e-mail addresses when setting up a subscription to an e-mail service ("double opt-in")

If you subscribe to an e-mail service, you agree to receive e-mails and to the following policies.

The newsletter is sent exclusively through the web server of this website. The e-mail address of the subscriber is therefore not transferred to third parties.

You can revoke your consent to receive the newsletter at any time and thus cancel the newsletter subscription ("opt-out"). At the end of each e-mail you will find a note with a link that you can use to cancel your subscription very easily. After your cancellation, your personal data will be deleted, provided that this data is no longer required for other services or functions of this website used by you. Your consent to receive the newsletter expires simultaneously with the opt-out.

Using Marinamap with the Marinamap app for Android devices

The Marinamap app for Android uses the "Firebase Cloud Messaging" (FCM) service which is being provided by Google to send notifications to users of the app. To identify each user individually, a unique string ("hash") created by Android is required. This hash is being stored on Marinamap's web server. If the web server sends a notification (for example, of new content subscribed to by the user) to a user's app, the hash is transmitted to Google's FCM server. You can find detailed information about the privacy terms of Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging at: https://policies.google.com/privacy?hl=en

Right to anonymous use

The user can use this website anonymously or under a pseudonym, insofar as this is technically possible and reasonable.

Right to information, correction and deletion of data

As a user of this website, you have the right to request free information on what personal data has been stored about you by this website. You also have the right to correct, restrict or delete personal data. Data stored on this website will be deleted if it is no longer required for the agreed purpose and if there is no legal retention period to the contrary. If the deletion is contrary to legal regulations, the data processing will be restricted. In this case, the data will be blocked and not processed for other purposes.

Right of Objection

Users of this website have a right of objection to the processing or use of their personal data at any time.
